Papdi Chat

Papdi Chat is a famous spicy and delicious street food in Asia.Now make this tasty street food at home for your children and provide them a clean and healthy food.


For Phulki & Barry

Water 3 cups
Black gram 1 cup
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Corriander Seeds Powder 1 tsp
Chopped Ginger  2 tsp
Chopped Green chillies 1 tsp
Salt as per taste
Vegetable oil 1 1/4 cup

Other things to be added:

Sliced Onions 1 cup
Boiled Potato 1 cup
Boiled White Chickpeas 1 cup

For yogurt  :

Yogurt 2 cups
Sugar 1 tsp
Salt 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Black salt  1/2 tsp
Mint Leaves Grinded 1 cup

For Papdi:

Flour 1 cup
Salt as per taste
Cumin Seeds
Lukewarm water as needed


Wash black gram and soak in water for 1 hour.Rinse it off.Grind to a fine paste.Add other spices (Cumin seeds ,Corriander Seeds Powder ,Chopped Ginger  ,Chopped Green chillies ,Salt as per taste).Knead well and make small round shaped balls.Heat the oil in a pan and deep fry the balls for a minute.Soak them in water for 25 minutes until they get soft..(Same is the method for phulki also)

In a bowk add yogurt alongwith the above mentioned spices and beat well to make a paste.

To make papdi knead flour with salt and cumin seeds with lukewarm water well.Leave for 30 minutes.Heat oil in a pan.Roll out the dough and in rectangular shape.Deep fry it and leave for 15 minutes to get crispier.

In a separate bowl add onions,potato chickpeas ,barry and phulkis.Add yogurt in this bowl and mix well.Garnish it with Sliced Onions and a little of corriander seeds powder.Sprinkle crushed papdi over it and enjoy your tasty & Tried Papdi Chat.
